It is not hard to have credit cards maxed out before you know it. Soon, though, the bills calling for payment on those things you bought begins to take its toll on your available funds. Before you know it, it may be next to impossible, almost, to catch up on your bills. Another credit card, however, may be just what you need to be able to give yourself a handle on your debt. In fact, a new balance transfer credit card may be just what you need to consolidate your debts.

Balance transfer credit cards enable you to transfer debt that you already have on one card to another one. As an introductory offer, many credit card companies that offer this type of credit card provide special deals on this type of transaction. Good balance transfer credit cards will offer you 0% APR interest for up to 15 months. This means that you pay no interest charges on the amounts you transfer to it.

The advantage here is obvious. Instead of continuing to pay a high interest on your credit cards, which actually reduces your payment toward the principal, a new card saves you money. You pay no interest for awhile, so all of your payment goes to reduce the principal on your old bill – unless you have added other purchases to the credit card.

Debt consolidation on this kind of credit card makes a lot of sense – especially if you take care not to max out your credit cards again. There should be some new restraint on those other credit cards – destroying some of them would probably be better for most people.

A balance transfer credit card is great for consolidating smaller debts onto one card. Look over the offers carefully, however, because some of these cards have fees for the transfers – up to 4%. You also need to know that some cards do not allow you to transfer any debt to them after you get it. All transfer amounts need to be listed on the application, in those cases.

The introductory offer will vary too, in some situations, so you need to pay careful attention. Sometimes the balance transfer portion of the special introductory offer is only for three months, and the other features of the same offer may apply for one year. This will take some careful reading on your part to make sure you get what you think you are getting. Obviously, only three months of 0% APR interest will help – but not much because it is so short.

Debt consolidation with one of these credit cards gives you some time to catch up on your bills. Be careful, however, to make sure you pay your bills on this new card on time. Some of these lenders, when you make just one late payment – or not a minimum payment, will take away the introductory offer rates and may give you an interest rate up to 29%! Needless to say – that won’t help you reduce your debt!

By: Joseph Kenny

Struggling with your Credit Card Debts can leave you tired, frustrated and deeper in debt than you were to start with. If you have admitted to yourself that you are in debt then you are ready to start to move yourself into a more beneficial situation. This is where credit card debt negotiation comes into play.

The first thing you need to do is contact your credit card company, if you have been struggling with payments then they will probably be contacting you on a regular basis but do not wait for them to call you get on the phone and talk to them first. Many people are worried that when they call they will be told that there is no hope. This is not true it is within the Credit companies best interest to help you out of debt and put you in a better financial situation, that way they can try and get you to spend more on your card (Which you are not going to do once you are out of debt are you?).

When you call them tell them your situation and ask them what they can do for you, if they say nothing then you need to move onto the next stage which is to get credit counseling. A credit counselor will assist you in your credit card debt negotiation. They will help you create a budget as well as work with creditors to reduce your monthly payments, finance charges and late fees if you have accrued any.

A credit counselor will not only look at your credit card debt negotiation but also allow you to pay them one simple payment for them to distribute between your creditors. There is normally a one off fee but in many cases this is waived.

Do not continue to struggle on with your debts you will only end up deeper in than you are right now, your debts an also have an effect on your health and relationships. Credit Card Debt Negotiation is something that you need to do in order to live a more care free life.

By: Steven Turner

Once a consumer adopt the habit of using credit cards it become impossible for him or her to get out of this habit. Mostly consumers feel that credit cards debt help them a lot in fulfilling there daily needs but they don’t have any idea about that this credit card debt help is just temporary and they will require the help of some one to get out of this help.

Credit card debt help attracts consumers to go deeper and deeper in to debt pools and once they realize it become useless to cry over split milk. Credit card debt help is very much important for consumers in order to get proper understanding about credit cards debts. Consumers should try to use this plastic money through proper planning. They should try not to use more than the cash which they have currently in there accounts.

Mostly consumers are also very much unaware of late payment penalties and credit card annual charges. They keep doing late payments and once they realize about the late payments penalties till than they have waste a good amount of money in these penalties.

Is Your Credit Card A Great Financial Tool Or A Weapon Of Mass Financial Destruction?

A credit card is a great financial tool but sadly its one of those “tools” that can cause a lot of damage too if not used with the utmost care. You might be up to your eyeballs in debt at the moment and wondering how, if ever, you’re going to be able to become debt free. Well this article is going to show you some simple credit card debt consolidation techniques that work.

Jake, a friend of mine described the best thing about having a credit card as it being

“a great way to carry a large amount of money around in a convenient manner.”

…true in some respects and like any other convenience there’s a price to pay.

Credit cards offer ease for you to spend money whenever you want to and like in my friend’s case you usually end up spending too much. Sound familiar? The problem is you’re spending money you don’t have. Because you have an enticing option to payback only the minimum amount each month it’s an option a lot of people are then forced to take because they cannot pay anything more.

The Dark Side Of Credit Cards

You know what the worst part about credit cards is? It’s this. For each balance that still is unpaid at the end of each month you’re adding to your interest and as a direct result, in just a few short months you’ll find yourself overloaded with credit card debts. Jake bought some furniture for around $5,000 and was only making the minimum monthly payment of $50! – This left him with $4,950 that he still owed and while it appeared convenient at the time he was being smacked with interest on the balance…ouch!

There are ways to avoid this problem and the best piece of advice is this … find the best debt or credit card debt consolidation guide you can find and follow the steps as you read them. When you do this you are guaranteed to become debt free in a few months or years.

Stop Paying The Minimum Amount Each Month

Simply paying a minimum amount on your credit card is NOT an option for you. That is the core message of this article and the one thing you should take away from it. We’re just warming up, so be sure to look out for part II of this series titled “Credit Card Debt Consolidation Guide To Help You Legally Get Out Of Debt Fast”

By: 'Bayo Akinola-Odusola

Your credit rating / credit score is based upon how you have dealt with credit previously.
If you have always paid the full amount owing and never missed a payment then your credit score will be high.
If you miss payments, been late paying, not paid in full each month then your credit score will be lower.
If you’re trying to re-build your credit or if you’re young and just starting out, pay close attention the next time you receive a new card offer in the mail. When you’re trying to build a positive credit history for yourself, using the right credit card makes sense. Making small purchases and then making your payments on time each month is a simple, reliable way to build an outstanding credit report.

What to Look For On a Credit Card Application

If the credit card application you receive appears to offer a low monthly interest rate, don’t make a decision until you turn it over and closely examine the Disclosure Box. In it you’ll find a more important measure of credit terms – the Annual Percentage Rate, or APR. By federal law, the Disclosure Box will also tell you whether or not the card has what is called a grace period – a number of days, usually 25, until your purchase starts to accrue finance charges. If a card has a reasonable grace period and you pay off your balance at the end of each billing cycle, you won’t have to pay finance charges. It isn’t difficult to find credit cards that offer these grace periods, so if the Disclosure Box doesn’t declare one then throw the application in the trash and look for a better offer.

If you don’t have any credit history at all, a credit card company won’t want to give you a very high credit limit, but that’s probably best when you’re just starting out. You don’t want to be tempted to go into serious debt with your very first credit card.

Calculate Your Monthly Finance Charges

Ideally you want to pay off your balance each month to avoid paying any finance charges, but when that isn’t possible it’s important to know the actual cost of the items you purchase. The annual percentage rate, divided by 12 months, gives you the periodic rate that will be applied to your outstanding balance each month. You can estimate what your monthly finance charge will be by multiplying the periodic rate times the outstanding balance. It may sound complicated at first, but taking the time to learn this simple equation can make a big difference in how you use your credit card.

When you’re able to see how much you actually spend on an item that you don’t pay off at the end of the month, it might help you to resist the temptation to over-use your card. An item that you want to buy might be on sale at the time you purchase it, but if you don’t pay off your balance at the end of the month then those finance charges can dramatically increase the actual amount you’ll end up paying.

Use Your Credit Card as a Tool

Credit cards are only one of the tools available to help you build a positive credit history. Making on-time payments for other forms of credit, such as rent and utilities, are also important. Depending on your situation, within 1-2 years your credit rating will be improved enough that you no longer need to use your card for new purchases to maintain your good credit. Use these tools wisely, and they’ll help build your financial future!

By: Paul Forcey

Credit cards should be helpful when it comes to managing our personal finances. Unfortunately though, many of us end up spending beyond our means and have to come up with a way to settle the debts we’ve built up.

Understanding how a credit card works is a key to working out the best way to reduce your debts. Every month you have to pay interest on the amount of money you owe. This is like the fee you have to pay for the privilege of using a credit card. Unfortunately though, if you can’t make repayments then the amount you owe will grow each month. Interest rates vary depending on your provider and the kind of credit card you have. The key to settling your credit card debt is to reduce the amount of interest you pay each month. Fortunately, there are a number of things you can do to achieve this.

A balance transfer is where you take the debt you have on one credit card and use another credit card to pay it off. This might not sound very clever but you can get credit cards that offer 0% on balance transfers. This means that when you transfer your debt to the new card, you don’t have to pay any interest at all on the money you owe for a long period of time. When you’ve done this, you know that your debt won’t grow each month no matter how small the repayments are that you make.

If you’ve built up debt on a number of credit cards and are getting crippled by the interest and penalties for late payments, then a debt consolidation loan might be the answer. This is similar to a balance transfer in that you take on another agreement (this time a loan) in order to settle your credit card debts. You’ll still have to pay interest but it’s likely to be significantly less than your current amount.

For insurmountable credit card debt that you’re never going to be able to pay, you’ll need more severe credit card debt settlement help. Consult your bank, your creditors and if needs be a debt management company. Make sure you do your research into the amount of money you actually owe. That way you have the information you need to explain your problems to skilled professionals.

Credit card debt is incredibly serious and needs to be dealt with swiftly to avoid your problems spiralling out of control. Taking decisive action is the best form of debt help advice anyone can give you.

By: Thomas Baugh

Do you have credit card debts that are way behind and you feel like you will never get them paid off? There are some secrets that you need to know to credit card debt help. There are ways to get them paid off for less than what you owe and faster than you would have ever thought. Here are a few options for you to get rid of your credit card debts.

First, if you own a home, then you should consider refinancing your mortgage or taking out a second mortgage. You need to make sure this will give you enough money to pay off your credit cards. After you pay them off you need to cut up the credit cards and stop using them completely. The last thing you want to do is end up right back in the same situation again.

Second, you can get a new credit card. Sure this sounds strange, but if you have a good amount of monthly income and decent credit you can get a credit card with a high limit and transfer the balances from your other cards to it. This needs to be a low interest credit card and you need to make sure it has a large enough limit to cover all your other cards.

Last, you can pay them off all yourself. Set up your budget and figure out what you can afford to use towards your debts each month. Then, start with your smallest credit card debt and work your way to the largest one. If you have any that are not past due make sure you continue to make the minimum payments so that they stay on time.

Getting credit card debt help is not easy and you need to be very disciplined. Have patients and know that it will take some time to get out of debt, but once you do you will be much happier.

By: Gressly Stevens

If you find yourself with credit card debt, then it can be a stressful time. It doesn’t matter how large this debt is, you have to consider how you’re going to get rid of it which can make for a stressful existence at times.

The first thing to remember is that credit card debt is incredibly common and more often than not is nothing to worry about. However, the fact remains that you must do something to get rid of it and if you bury your head in the clouds things can get much worse.

Like anything to do with your finances, sit down with a pen, a paper and a calculator. Work out your monthly outgoings against what you’re bringing in. If you can pay off your debt in a few months by only making a few cutbacks then do just that. You might find that your margins are much thinner than that and paying off your credit card debt could take years. This is when you have to consider action.

Start by picking up the phone and talking to your providers. If you’re credit card is from your bank then go there in person and make an appointment to speak to someone about your debt problems. They will be able to advise you and might even offer you a solution you hadn’t thought of. Providers have been known to freeze interest or allow repayment holidays where you don’t have to pay anything for a short period of time. This can help you save up a lump sum to pay off and prove incredibly useful.

If you’ve taken these steps and there is still no clear end in sight then you will have to consider taking more decisive action. Once more, there are a number of things you can do. Balance transfers and consolidation loans are excellent tools that reduce the interest you have to pay, and shave significant amounts off your credit card debt in the process. Ask your bank about these but make sure you do your research before actively seeking one of these solutions.

Credit card debt is growing in the UK by the minute, but this in a way can be beneficial. The reason being that because so many people are in debt, there are more companies offering solutions meaning the market is competitive and so there are deals to be found. Make sure you take your time and find the right one.

By: Thomas Baugh

If you are working on getting rid of your credit card debt, you may get a little curious about statistics. How do others compare?

As interest rates rise and the economy slows down, many people find themselves in over their head, especially when it comes to their credit cards. Here are a few tips for coping with your credit card debt.

First, cut up your credit cards and don’t use them again until you’ve regained control of your situation! Then create a budget for yourself and your family. Be realistic and totally honest in your appraisal of what you really need to spend money on, and how much money you’re bringing in every month. Make trade-offs wherever you can to bring the income and expenditure columns into agreement. And don’t forget to include saving, if it’s at all possible.

If you’re already in deep, contact your creditors. They’ll actually appreciate your effort, since most folks turn and run scared when they begin experiencing financial difficulties. Tell your creditors what you can pay, but be honest and then stick to that proposal. You’ll find that they’re generally quite willing to make special arrangements to help you regain control of your financial life.

Try to work out repayment plans with your creditors before they turn your account over to a collection agency. That means they’ve given up on trying to get their money from you. If your account has gone to an agency, there are Federal regulations that prohibit them from bothering you excessively, threatening you, or making false assertions in order to collect your debt. Even when you’ve that far in arrears, you still have rights.

Regardless of where you are financially, it’s worthwhile to contact a credit counselor for help and suggestions on how to approach your problem creatively and responsibly. Many of them can help work out deals with your creditors that you might not have been able to accomplish on your own.

A word of caution about credit counselors: never pay a monthly fee to a counselor for their services, and never believe that someone can repair your bad credit in a simple, easy way. It can be dangerous, both for your pocketbook and from a legal standpoint, and the repercussions can be severe.

If you’re simply too far in debt to get back on your feet again, bankruptcy can help, but it should always be your last resort. A bankruptcy will stay on your credit report for seven years, and can affect your ability to get loans and credit cards for a long time to come.

Nearly everyone gets into financial trouble at one time or another, but if you face your own money problems head-on, you can regain control of your financial life.

Copyright
